The Coffee Condiments

Browned Butter Marzipan Syrup

Browned Butter Marzipan Syrup — I’ll be drinking this on repeat.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp whole milk powder
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup marzipan (the more refined, the better - there will most likely be a little grit in the syrup but I like it.)
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/8 tsp almond extract
  • 1 pinch salt

Directions

  1. 1

Melt butter and add the milk powder. Heat on medium/low heat, whisking constantly until the mixture is bubbly, brown, and smells fragrantly of browned butter. Be careful not to burn.

  2. 2

    Add in water, still whisking.

  3. 3

Add in sugar, combine, and heat on low until the sugar is dissolved. Then bring up to a boil (be careful, it foams up quite a bit and you may have to adjust the heat as you whisk) for about 7-9 minutes.

  4. 4

Turn heat down to low, add in the cream. Whisk and bring back up to a boil for another 3-5 minutes. Turn the heat back down to low.

  5. 5

Add in the marzipan and whisk until smooth.

  6. 6

Add in vanilla, almond, and salt. Whisk to combine.

  7. 7

Store in the fridge and give it a little mix before adding to your coffee!
